Wiltshire does a great line in proper English pubs and this charming thatched inn provides no exception.
Expect a warm welcome from the Ship Inn in at Upavon’s husband and wife landlord duo, Richard and Cathy - plus a well kept pint of our deep golden ale, Piston Broke.
A beautiful 16th century pub, originally built as a house and then opened as a public house in 1866, parts of the building date as far back as the 14th century.
Five cask ales feature on the bar and the menu is made of proper pub classics and home cooked favourites. Popular with locals are the Ship’s fish and chip evenings on Tuesdays, and steak nights on Wednesdays - supplied by nearby Lowerfields Farm. And Sunday roasts are served up every week too.
Located within the Vale of Pewsey, an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Ship Inn is ideally situated for exploring the best of Wiltshire’s historical sites, with Stonehenge, plus neolithic Avebury stone circles and Woodhenge all resting close by.
