Ale Aboard!

An historic steam train made a whistle stop at Bristol to take on consignment of Box Steam beer a couple of weeks ago.

Belmond British Pullman, the sister train to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, made a quick stop at platform 10 of Bristol’s Temple Meads station on 11 May to pick up cases of the Box bottled range. The precious cargo, including 17 cases of Funnel Blower, our 4.5% vanilla porter, were loaded aboard by Box Steam’s Master Brewer himself, Philip Downes.

Philip said: “We’re ‘chuffed’ to have one of our bottled beers on board such a famous train. Passengers will be able to savour the luxurious, rich flavours of our porter in equally indulgent surroundings, as they travel through the wonderful countryside which helped produce it. One great tradition coupled with another!”

Phew, where has the time gone? We’ve been brewing for almost 15 years.

We’ll never produce factory style beer. Our creative brewers use hop flavours to their full, forever artful in the quite wondrous production of naturally flavoursome beer.

Our roots are firmly in the West Country, where we continue to be inspired by the engineering triumphs of the late great Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
