Golden Bolt Hits the Target

We are delighted to announce that our glorious Box Steam ale, Golden Bolt, has struck gold in the 2017 BBI Drinks Competition.

Launched only 10 months ago, Golden Bolt (ABV 3.8%), a fantastically fruity ale made with Wai-iti hops, took home the gold medal in the Ales, Lagers & Ciders ABV 1.5% – 3.9% category in the latest awards.

Created by Master Brewer, Philip Downes, Golden Bolt is one of our lower ABV ales and increasingly one of our most popular. Packing a flavour filled punch it’s a delightful session beer that many of our customers are enjoying.

Commenting on the achievement Ed Binsted, BBI President, said: “Sometimes the lower strength ales can lack flavour and taste similar, but this year Box Steam’s ‘Golden Bolt’ clearly stood out and thoroughly deserved to be awarded gold.”

We’ll receive a medal and certificate at the annual BBI Dinner on Thursday 9th November in London, which celebrates its Diamond Jubilee this year.
