Pub of the week: the George Hotel

Did you know that Amesbury is the UK’s oldest town in continuous settlement?

Living in the shadow of nearby Stonehenge, there’s a lot to love about this part of Wiltshire.

For us of course, it’s the promise of a good pint. For this, we’d advise checking yourselves into the George Hotel, where a perfectly poured Tunnel Vision awaits. And the chef’s a bit partial to our amber bitter too – you’ll find Tunnel Vision battered fish and freshly fried onion rings on the menu. But you’ll need to be quick, as we hear both are very popular with the locals.

With a cosy and traditional style restaurant and bar, the George Hotel serves up classic British food, including hearty breakfasts. It’s an ideal location for visiting nearby Stonehenge, Woodhenge, Salisbury and Marlborough, but we’d also recommend devoting time to exploring the craft beer line-up on the bar.

Phew, where has the time gone? We’ve been brewing for almost 15 years.

We’ll never produce factory style beer. Our creative brewers use hop flavours to their full, forever artful in the quite wondrous production of naturally flavoursome beer.

Our roots are firmly in the West Country, where we continue to be inspired by the engineering triumphs of the late great Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
