Support your local NHS and let Box Steam Brewery deliver the pub to your door with “hand pump fresh” bag in box beer

With the pubs closed and the streets empty, the Box Steam Brewery has had to come up with a new way to get their famous Cask Conditioned beers into the hands of their consumers by bringing the pub to their door while also supporting the NHS.

The “hand-pump fresh” bag in box is available in various sizes including 5, 9 and 18 pint boxes and as well as delivering free of charge to Bath postcodes* they will be making a sizeable contribution to support NHS staff with every purchase made.

Recognising the incredible work being done by our local heroes in the NHS, the Box Steam Brewery will be donating £2.50 from every box sold to the “Help your Hospital Hero” campaign being run by Forever Friends in aid of Bath RUH NHS staff.

Andy Roberts, founder of Box Steam Brewery said “We understand that for many a highlight of the week is sitting down with a fresh pint of beer at the local. Through this initiative we have the opportunity to bring the pub to your home by delivering “hand-pump fresh” cask beer to your door in a bag in box while also helping our local NHS in their fight against Covid-19. We have a great range of cask conditioned brands to choose from and can also deliver bottles too which obviously can be stored for longer”

James Scott CEO of Forever Friends said: “It is heart-warming to see the support for our NHS staff in Bath and this initiative taken by Box Steam Brewery is a great addition. For those of you that order and make that contribution – thank you”

About Box Steam Brewery

Our story began over 100 years ago when brewing started in the village of Box, home to Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Box Tunnel near Bath and a legacy of brewing began. Sadly, when the brewery was born again, the original brewery has been derelict and now converted to residential homes.

As a local family with a love for beer, in 2004 we set about establishing the brewery as close to the original site as practical, with the aim of producing great quality beers to be served in our own pub estate. We named it Box Steam Brewery after The famous “Box Tunnel” and the works of Isambard Kingdom. Our beers were a hit and we quickly outgrew the Box site so with heavy hearts but exciting prospects, we moved to new premises near Holt, where the water has unique properties ideal for brewing.

Since then we’ve been brewing up a storm and have grown from selling 4753 pints in 2006 to 1,550,407 in 2019.

Details on our “hand-pump fresh” bag in box

Box Steam Brewery is well known for its cask conditioned beers. These are beers which still contain yeast when they leave the brewery for the pub, once in the pub cellar they are tapped and left for 24 hours while the yeast completes the fermentation process and settles. With the pubs being closed consumers are unable to get this “hand-pump fresh” taste. So we are laying these casks up ourselves at the brewery before decanting them into the bag in box.

The beers available in “Pub in a Box” include

  • Tunnel Vision 4.2% abv,
  • Derail Ale 5% abv,
  • Soul Train 4% abv,
  • Piston Broke 4.5% abv
  • Golden Bolt 3.8% abv

In addition there is a wide range of bottled beers to choose from

Deliveries are made free with a £20 minimum order for the following postcodes

GL9, SN1-6, SN 8-16, SN26, BA 1-4, BA11- BA15

About “Help for Hospital Heroes Appeal” RUH Bath

The “Help for Hospital Heroes” was launched by The Forever Friends charity which exclusively supports the Bath Royal United Hospital. Their mission is to make a real difference to patients, their families and the staff who treat them at the Royal United Hospitals Bath. With the generosity of our donors and supporters we fundraise to:

  • Create welcoming environments.
  • Provide world class facilities and the latest technology.
  • Fund innovative research.
  • Support staff training and development.

The “Help your Hospital Hero” is an urgent appeal to fund the NHS staff at RUH Bath during the coronavirus crisis. The hospital is under increased and immense pressure at this extraordinary time. Care for all RUH patients has to continue and staff are going above and beyond to make sure it does.

We are all being asked to stay indoors, work from home, or maintain ‘social distance’ from our friends and family but our amazing NHS staff can’t. They have to be there for us all and some now won’t see their own families for weeks to protect patients and their own loved ones from the outbreak of the virus.

As the hospital’s charity, The Forever Friends Appeal is asking for your help to support the hospital and its heroes.

John Cullum, Chair of The Forever Friends Appeal, says “We want to say thank you to all the NHS staff who are on the frontline right now. We will owe you for everything you do and all that you give so selflessly for our care.”
