Teacher Training

If I had to pick the perfect class to take right after a Hot Power Fusion class, it would be CoreRestore, CorePower Yoga’s version of Yin Yoga. My husband and I stayed for Mandy’s CoreRestore class tonight, right after taking Hot Power Fusion with Christine. CoreRestore is a 75-minute yoga class where we go through about 15 different postures, holding them anywhere from two to five minutes each. A CoreRestore yoga class is filled with lots of deep breathing and exaggerated stretching, similar to a Yin Yoga class. It was exactly what I needed after this crazy, busy week.

As we walked into the room to set up our mats, we were instructed to grab a towel and 3 blocks. Mandy also asked us to set our mats up against the wall instead of picking a place in the middle of the room. As we got settled into the room, I noticed the temperature. The room was a lot warmer than it was during last week’s CoreRestore class. It felt really inviting. All of the different elements helped set the tone for a really relaxing class – the heat, the dark room, the battery powered candles along the studio walls and the soft, instrumental music playing in the background. I could have easily fallen asleep as we lay there waiting for class to start.

My favorite pose in class tonight was when we laid out three blocks underneath our head and down our spine and laid on them with our legs straight out in front of us and our arms down by our sides. This was the first posture in class where I felt myself starting to let go. I allowed myself to drift off while laying in this posture. It felt amazing.

By final Savasana, I could hear myself slightly snoring. I wasn’t the only one either. There was someone else in class snoring as well. Mandy had done an incredible job leading a relaxing class for everyone.

In Mandy’s class tonight, I didn’t think about anything other than listening to her cues of getting into and out of the postures. It was the first time in a long time where I didn’t think about food or what I was going to eat for my next meal during class. Yeah, I was THAT relaxed. I left class with my body feeling like it had been reset on so many levels.
