Teacher Training
I had so much fun at my first Yoga Sculpt class with Sunny over a week ago and was no longer afraid of taking the class, I decided to check out another one of her Yoga Sculpt classes tonight after work. This time, I brought my husband with me. We decided to get a double yoga dose of Sunny tonight. We first took her Hot Power Fusion class and then stayed for her Yoga Sculpt class right after. The short version of this story? We got our butts kicked by Sunny tonight, but we loved every minute of it. As soon as class ended, my husband told me he was already looking forward to his next class with Sunny. Yes!
I knew I was going to leave the studio sore tonight, especially after taking Yoga Sculpt. My arms and shoulders were sore for a solid week after taking one of Sunny’s Yoga Sculpt classes for the first time over a week ago. It hurt so bad to lift anything after taking her class, I had to take the three Yoga Sculpt classes I wanted to go to later that week off of my schedule and replaced them with just one Hot Power Fusion class and one CoreRestore class.
Yoga Sculpt started off easy enough tonight with a couple rounds of Sun Salutation to get warmed up. Once the Downward facing Dogs and Chaturangas were added into the sequence, I quickly built up a sweat. It wasn’t long until I could see sweat dripping from my face onto my mat. Yoga Sculpt classes are the perfect combination of yoga, weight training, cardio and core wrapped into one hour.
It seems like no one Yoga Sculpt class is the same. The energy level is high and the music is super motivating, but the exercises done in class vary each time. In Sunny’s class tonight, we did a lot of different exercises than what she featured in her Yoga Sculpt class the week before. The cardio portion of tonight’s class included jump roping and running up and down our mats. For legs, she had us put a hand weight behind each of our knees. Then we took turns raising each leg into the air with the weight on it. At first, I thought “No big deal. I totally got this exercise.” Fast forward to the day after class, I struggled to walk up the stairs at home. The core portion of class tonight was so intense (or maybe I just to build up more core strength), I ended up on both of my knees towards the end, practically kissing my mat.
For doing back-to-back classes with Sunny tonight, I was surprised at how good I felt after her Yoga Sculpt class. I left the studio pretty tired and super hungry for dinner, but stoked to come back for another one of her Yoga Sculpt classes. I may or may not be able to lift my arms and walk tomorrow.
