Teacher Training

Round two! Tonight, I brought my husband back to CorePower Yoga with me for Jessica H’s Hot Power Fusion By Candlelight class. This time, instead of setting up in the front row, we set up our mats in the back of the room. Being in the back would give my husband a chance to watch other people during class, just incase he needed visual guidance on which posture to get into. I completely understood and agreed with his request of wanting to be in the back row. It took me a good six Hot Power Fusion classes before I got a hang of the sequence and had to stop relying on watching the people around me to know what was coming next.

I really enjoyed the pace of class tonight. This was my first Hot Power Fusion class with Jessica H and I loved it. The overall pace of the class felt slow and smooth. Even my husband commented after class on how much he enjoyed the class’s pace. It felt like we were able to hold each of the postures a little bit longer than usual. This was a double-edged sword for me because on one hand, the slower pace and longer hold times made it easier for me to tune into the cues during each of the postures as I visualized them my own flashcards. On the other hand, my legs were shaking like a leaf in postures like Horse Pose. Just a gentle reminder that I need to work on building strength in my core and legs!

Class seemed to feel hotter than normal tonight too. I usually gauge how hot class is by how much I sweat. I felt like I was sweating buckets for the entire hour. It felt amazing! Sometimes if I don’t feel like I sweat as much as I think I should in class, I feel like I didn’t work hard enough. I didn’t have any of those concerns in class tonight.

There was also an extra person in class offering hands-on assists. I was lucky enough to receive two incredible hands-on assists – one on Standing Separate Leg Forehead to Knee Pose where I got my hips slightly adjusted to face the front of the room and another in final Savasana. The forehead rub I got in Savasana felt heavenly. I’m a big fan of receiving hands-on assists so to get two in one class was such an incredible treat!
