Teacher Training
Now that we’ve sprung forward an hour, the days are starting to get lighter earlier and the evenings are staying lighter later. This means the 5:30 Hot Power Fusion classes at CorePower Yoga are no longer done by candlelight. I’ve gotten so used to it being dark outside for the 5:30 classes. There’s something really cozy and intimate about doing a Hot Power Fusion class by candlelight.
In tonight’s class, the sun was streaming into the studio from the outside. I had no problem seeing my reflection in the front mirror during class. I also happened to set up in the sunniest part of the room, all the way to the right side in the front row. For the entire class, I could feel the sun shining all over me. It felt amazing, especially since we haven’t really seen a whole lot of the sun in awhile. Then after class, my husband, whom took the class with me, told me the sun made my yoga pants see-through. Oh well. Can’t win them all.
I worked up quite a sweat during class. My shoulders and arms were still a bit sore from Sunny’s Yoga Sculpt class I took on Monday. It still felt good to stretch my entire body out and be in a hot and humid room for an hour. After taking two back-to-back yoga classes with Sunny on Monday, I decided to take Tuesday and Wednesday off this week. I needed the extra time after work to catch up on all of my journaling about our recent Group Sessions and all of the yoga classes I’ve been taking for Yoga Teacher Training. No matter how hard I’ve been trying, I just haven’t been able to get fully caught up this week with all of my work for Yoga Teacher Training. It’s one thing to take a yoga class, but when you have to journal about it too, it adds on an extra time commitment to the class. There have been several times this week when all I wanted to do was lay down and take a long time. Unfortunately, my schedule lately doesn’t allow for anything other than yoga, work, work and more yoga. Work seemed to be a lot busier than usual this week as well.
I was super excited about being in Jill’s Hot Power Fusion class tonight. I knew I’d be able to relax while half paying attention to the cues and visualizing my flash cards and then eventually let go completely and get totally submerged into the yoga. Once I let myself get submerged in the postures, I could feel my stress level go down.
With all of the yoga and Yoga Teacher Training in my life these days, I completely forgot that today was St Patrick’s Day. I didn’t wear anything green to celebrate. But during the core portion of class tonight, Jill played an Irish song to commemorate the holiday. It was fun. Probably the first time I ever laughed during core.
Before going into Final Savasana, Jill cued us from Wind Removing Pose/Pavanamuktasana into Happy Baby/Ananda Balasana. I’ve been feeling quite overwhelmed all week long. There was something about doing the Happy Baby Pose tonight that really felt good and super relaxing. I could have stayed there all night if Jill had let me and I didn’t have a Group Session to go to after class.
